Chautauqua Park is a picturesque city park nestled in Hot Brook Canyon on the north end of Hot Springs, about a 2-minute drive or 10-minute walk from The Evanston Suites vacation rentals in downtown Hot Springs
The main park areas are located where the canyon widens a bit. I love how it’s situated; it feels a bit like it’s sheltered from the rest of the world.
There are two sections to this park: Upper Chautauqua – the north side – and Lower Chautauqua – the south side.
This charming park has a hot (or warm) spring running through it, trails, picnic areas, and swing sets. The swing set at Upper Chautauqua has a slide, two regular swings, an infant swing, and an ADA swing. Lower Chautauqu’s has two regular swings and two infant swings.
Our kids have always loved playing in creeks, even the cold ones, so being able to splash and wade in a warm one is a treat!
There’s plenty of trees for shade and for hammocking, and if you like rock scrambling there a lots of big rocks for that. Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash.
There are restrooms, but keep in mind that they are closed during the off-season.
If you’re walking to Chautauqua Park from The Evanston Suites, stay on the east side of River Street and head north.
Just past Evans Plunge, you’ll see a gravel trail on your right: this trail takes you to the park without having to walk on the road.
If you’re looking for a place to stay during your visit to Hot Springs, we’d love to host you at The Evanston Suites!
